Special Needs Education at Dasman Bilingual School
At Dasman Bilingual School, our vision is rooted in the belief that "no one is left behind." We are committed to empowering students with unique abilities, helping them develop their skills and preparing them to become confident, productive citizens. Through an inclusive and supportive environment, our Special Needs Division fosters individual growth, self-expression, and independence, ensuring every student can thrive.
A Holistic and Inclusive Approach
Our Special Needs Division encompasses the Special Needs, Autism, and Vocational Units, each tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. Our team is dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing space where students can apply their skills, express themselves logically, and overcome challenges.
We offer a wide range of therapeutic services, including speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy, for the holistic development of our students. To further enhance support, we have introduced a behavior therapist to address behavioral barriers, laying a strong foundation for success. Additionally, a specialized assistant fluent in both English and Arabic works in each classroom to provide individualized support.
Comprehensive Curricula Tailored to Student Needs
The Special Needs Division follows a modified curriculum in Language Arts and Math, based on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). This curriculum emphasizes progressive skill-building and integrates essential life skills, including personal hygiene, healthy habits, emotional development, and daily living skills.
For older students, the Vocational Unit provides opportunities to gain practical skills and qualifications through the ASDAN Curriculum and BTEC Qualification Curriculum. These programs are designed to prepare students for college and the workplace. We are proud to support some of our ASDAN students as they transition to higher education after completing the required program hours.
Innovative Facilities
Our facilities are thoughtfully designed to support diverse learning needs and provide students with enriching educational experiences. The sensory room, offers rich sensory activities tailored to students with autism, helping them overcome behavioral challenges and unlock their full potential.
In addition, the Multi-Sensory Playroom and STEM Lab provide hands-on, interactive learning environments where students can explore, experiment, and develop critical thinking skills. These resources ensure that every child has access to engaging, meaningful educational opportunities.
Strengthening the Home-School Partnership
We understand that parental involvement is key to a student’s success. To support this, we provide parent training sessions to share new approaches and empower families to better assist their children. By working together, we can build a strong partnership that ensures every child reaches their full potential.
