Welcome to the Special Education Needs Department
Welcome back to the new school year! This year I’ll be assisted once again by my Vice Principal Ms. Dania Kalaji, the newly appointed Special Needs Senior Coordinator, Ms. Shanda Edwards and the Autism Unit Supervisor, Mr. Yaser Mohammed.
As every year, the Special Needs Division strives to improve the Special Needs program in terms of both the academic as well as the social and emotional development of our students. Through the annual revision of our curriculum, community projects, after school clubs on offer this year as well as our values program, we seek to equip students with skills and instill character traits that will enable them to become productive members of their communities as well as global citizens.
Students will participate in a variety of events and activities as well as go on educational fieldtrips. Wi-fi is accessible throughout the school and you will be kept abreast of these events and activities on the schools brand new website (http://dbs.edu.kw/), Facebook as well as WhatsApp throughout the year.
The SEN staff continues to fully commit to building a safe and positive environment for our students.
Please note that the Parent-Student Handbook for 2017/2018 is now posted on the website. The handbook contains important information regarding our program and you are advised to take the time to read through it carefully.
I would like to wish you all the best for the new school year. You have me and my team’s full support and cooperation. Should you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or visit my office.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and support,
Ms. June Wyngaard, Special Needs Principal
